Allergic to Penicillin

by Matt Hester
(Lafayette, IN.)

If both my mother and I are pretty allergic to Penicillin, is it a safe bet that, even though my wife is an RN and says it isn't necessary, that our child should not ever be given that medication?

I am guessing RN stands for Registered Nurse and that your wife is a nurse? If so she probably knows what she is talking about.

Having said that, in matters of allergic reactions to medications, guesswork is never a good idea. I think you should get the matter assessed to know for sure whether or not your child is intolerant or not, so that you know what is the safest course of action.
