All Terrain Baby Strollers Guide

All Terrain Baby Stroller

All Terrain baby strollers are a new and increasingly popular class of equipment, which have greatly changed how strollers are viewed and have opened up new possibilities AND removed some of the frustrating previous limitations.

Valco Tri-Mode

Can handle almost any type of terrain

With the rise of all terrain equipment, we now have strollers that can handle almost any type of terrain, including gravelled surfaces.

Thus, through these strollers, one gets a chance to achieve one of the primary objectives -- to get a breath of outdoors fresh air for yourself and to give your baby the same.

This used to be largely impossible with classic baby strollers (without all terrain capabilities) as riding to such a place, like a park or walking the neighborhood sidewalk, would have involved getting out of the smooth home-and-around terrain they were meant for.

Allow health-conscious parents to go out with their babies

Baby Bling Metamorphosis

These strollers also give health-conscious parents a chance to kill two birds with one stone -- namely exercising and having an outing with your baby. In fact, another name for all terrain baby strollers is ‘jogging baby strollers’.

The all terrain capabilities that these strollers offer means that a parent can get reasonable exercise while also getting a chance to make memories with their baby. This is a great benefit for today’s time constrained parent who, with the help of an all terrain baby stroller, gets a chance to bond with their baby, while also getting a chance to exercise.

Most all terrain baby strollers come with good suspension, which is not easy to find in classic (non all terrain) baby strollers.

In actual fact, some of the latest all terrain baby strollers come with a real suspension system, not unlike the one to be found in automobiles. This good suspension means a smoother ride for the baby, even on the roughest terrain.

Additionally, good suspension could also turn out to be a safety feature in a baby stroller, given just how soft (and ‘unresilient)’ a baby’s body is.

Easier to use

Most all terrain baby strollers are also relatively light.

This makes them easy to travel with. Being light also means that these baby strollers require less effort to push, a clear benefit in light of the long rides made possible by their all terrain capabilities.

Another major effort-saving feature of all terrain baby strollers is the large tires they come with. These larger tires translate into huge energy savings, especially when navigating on the rough terrain made possible through their all-terrain capabilities. In fact, some models of all terrain strollers come with inflatable pneumatic tires.

The only drawback you might find with all terrain strollers is the fact that it is hard – if not impossible – to find an all terrain baby stroller designed for newborns and very young babies. But this is a drawback which is offset by the fact that most parents are averse to the idea of going out with newborns and very young babies, anyway.

Excellent stroller with amazing Sun Canopy!

"After much consultation with Baby Jogger customer service, which is amazing because you speak with an actual person who is patient, knowledgeable and helpful, I was able to determine this stroller was the appropriate choice for our needs. We live near trails and needed something that would be versatile. What really sold me was the amazing customer support and the ease of the one hand fold. I was also able to assemble this stroller myself as my infant watched. It took me about 20 minutes and I was very glad for this. As a new mother, I don't have time to waste on complexity. If you want a durable, safe, easy to use all around jogging stroller that looks great and is extremely functional, I would highly recommend this product. The sunshade is AMAZING for those of you who need excellent sun protection. It has great accessories. I wish I had seen this stroller from the beginning. It has it all! Thank you to Baby Jogger for making this easy for new moms!" 2 baby strollers

Baby Jogger 2008 Performance 20" Single Stroller

Great for all terrain!

"We own a McLaren techno XLR for everyday which we love by the way, but we needed an all terrain stroller so we could hike during our vacation to Big Bear Mountains in CA, so I looked and looked and found this stroller for half off at a local sports store since it was their floor model...so I bought it, I figured the 20 inch bike wheels would be ideal for the rocky, uneven mountain terrain and it was!! our son fell asleep in it every time even though we were hiking through some rocky parts, it was easy to maneuver.. I was worried about the turns since the front wheel is fixed (it has to be... for safety in rough terrain) but it was easy to turn by lifting front wheel, now that we are back in AZ and the weather is cooling down we plan on doing plenty of hiking with this stroller! I did buy the blue carry bag and I'm glad I did as it's very useful. The only drawback I've found is the size!...we took our 3 dogs with us on vacation and they were all in the back of our 4Runner so the only other place where the stroller fit (w/o front wheel) was in the front passenger seat (although I'm sure you can carry it on your rooftop with the right accessories.) Wheels are easy to remove or put on." 2 baby strollers
