Cannot sit on his own

by Aik Pin
(Malaysia)

I am a Chinese mother with a very petite baby. I, myself is very petite. The problem is, my son is going to be 8 months old soon, but he cannot sit on his own. My son can support his head well but whenever I put him in a sitting position, he will fall to the side or lunge forward towards his legs.

I am worried about his development. What is the best way to help a baby sit?

7 Month old not sitting up

by Angela
(Texas)

My son is 7 months old and shows no desire to sit up. I can prop him up with pillows, but as far as sitting unassisted goes he does not want to place his hands down to hold himself up. I do lots of tummy time with him and he is in physical therapy to try and get his strength up because he does not want to push up either. Any advice?

I am doing the recommended exercises as well as physical therapy but without results. My physical therapist says she will write a letter to my son’s pediatrician if he is not sitting at 8 months. Could there be a neuro problem with him?
