Baby Stroller Travel System Guide

A baby stroller travel system is popular mainly for two main reasons:

Evenflo Journey Elite Travel System

Great product!

"I researched quite a bit before I opted for this high rated travel system. It was easy to put together and has a lot of quick release buttons to disassemble easily. (Instead of nuts and bolts). The design was well thought out. I really don't have any "I wish it had..." because they have thought of all of my needs and wants. Easy steering and easy to collapse. A great product at a great price."

  • Saving money on essential baby equipment, and…

  • Simplicity and ease of handling

But first, let’s start off by defining what exactly we’re talking about:

A baby stroller travel system, or sometimes also referred to as simply a travel system, is essentially a stroller with an attachable baby carrier. And this carrier also works as a baby car seat.

Saving Money on Essential Baby Equipment

Regardless of how you try to avoid it, you will eventually find that two essential items you will need for your baby, is a stroller and a car seat. This is where the baby stroller travel system comes to the fore. These systems are a stroller and car sear in one combined set.

Simplicity and Easy of Handling

My first son was a typical example of why these systems are great to use. He was a difficult sleeper at best of times. But one of the things that we by accident discovered worked well to get him to sleep… was to put him in the car and take him for a drive.

The problem was, he always fell asleep almost immediately, but woke up almost without fail one we tried to pick him up from the car seat.

This is where the baby travel system is great: it allows you to lift the carrier and your baby from the car and place it in the stroller or elsewhere without waking your baby.

Of course, we did not have the luxury of a baby stroller travel system with my first son.

2 Essential Things You Want In A
Baby Stroller Travel System

  1. Look at the weight limit on the car seat part. Most of the affordable travel systems only come with a weight limit of around 22 pounds. Experience has shown that it is a better option to go for a travel system with a higher weight limit for the car seat.

  2. Look at the durability of the stroller wheels. Many strollers will last quite a few years, but the wheels usually do not last that long. Best advice is to go for a travel system with durable, tire-like wheels.

Great choice!

"I love this travel system! My husband picked out the colors, and I wasn't sure at first but when it arrived, I fell in love. I love the material and its very easy to assemble. Not sure what the other review was referring to but this is brown and turquoise...very lovely! Turns very easily and the push bar is high enough that we don't have to slouch (I am 5'9" and my husband is 6'0). That is a first for us! Overall, very impressed with this item... Safety 1st Acella Sport Travel System

I love it!

"We originally out a few strollers. We planned on getting the Eddie Bauer Travel System (which runs around $200.) But after reading some mixed reviews that said the main drawback with that system was the heaviness and the latch system complicatedness (and as my husband and I are both short and had also been warned about complicated seatbelts), I wasn't sure how a heavy system would suit us. So I did more research and found the Safety 1st system. It's gotten good reviews for safety, looks nice, was $70 less, and doesn't weigh much. Plus, it has 3 wheels, which seemed nice for handling.

So we ordered this system; I was apprehensive while waiting for it, because what if it came and I hated it? But after it arrived and my husband set it up in a manner of minutes. It's super simple, looks great, folds up easier than any stroller I tried out, and the 3 wheels make the handling amazing. The fact that the wheels are large is great, too, because you get a super smooth ride (my sister put our dachshund in and wheeled him around and he had a great time!)

Don't be put off by the fact that it's not a huge brand name like Graco, or that it's not sold at every store. I was put off at first by the fact that I'd have to pay shipping for such a big package, but I ordered it through Amazon from BabyAge (they had $8 flat shipping). Yes, the cupholders are a bit small, but honestly? If I was shopping and watching a baby I doubt the cupholders would be my first concern. And yes, there aren't a lot of bells and whistles, but the trade off is the light weight and simple design. I'd definitely recommend the Safety 1st Travel System!"  baby stroller travel system

Eddie Bauer Adventurer Travel System

Very comfortable, but...

"Before our daughter was born, we compared this travel system side by side with the Graco travel system. We decided this one, because of the great fabrics and padding on both the stroller and car seat. Four months later, we still like it, but the only draw back is.. You have to use 2 hands to adjust the position of the seat on the stroller. *You have to hold the strap with one hand, and then use the other hand to pinch the adjuster with 2 fingers and slide it up the strap to the position you want.* Also the handle on the carseat isn't very padded, so it hurts your hand if you have to carry it for a long time. Otherwise we love it!"

The First Years Magna Light Travel System

More than expected!

"I cannot say enough good things about this stroller. I ordered it 5 weeks early to make sure I would have time to play around with it before our daughter arrived, but she came the day I ordered it, 5 weeks early. We have not been able to use it with her yet, but we are thoroughly impressed with the construction and our favorite part is that the infant seat sits Inside the stroller instead of latching onto the tray like many other brands do.

With me being 5' and the dad being 6'5" the adjustable handle was a surprise, but it will work great for us. And the little handle on the side to help carry the stroller when it is folded is so helpful, along with the "kick stand" support so it will stand on its own when folded. When they say one hand folding, they actually mean it; I can do it while holding the infant carrier in my other hand without any problems. Another nice thing about it is that the tray comes up when folded instead of down like a lot of other systems also, so it won't take a beating. I was worried about the durability, but again it is one of the best built ones we have seen yet.

The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I haven't been able to use it yet, but I have no doubts that it will be 5 stars once put into action." baby stroller travel system
