Development of 18month old baby

I'd like to encourage the development of 18month old baby. What can I do to make my baby sharp & smart? What should I teach him at this age? Also, do you have any shortcut guide about good nutritious food for him to develop physically and mentally?

Joint families

I think the traditional Indian set up of joint families are really beneficial for babies ? elders and other kids constantly interacting with babies is great for their development. They learn so much when there are people around them constantly.

Also you should give the child whatever is being eaten at home ? rotis, subzi, dal, chawal, fruit the whole grain and vegetables diet that most Indians have is usually best for elders and for kids as well.
