Does Not Want To Eat

by Swastika
(Indonesia)

My baby does not want to eat her solid food. She is eight months now. She just wants to eat porridge-like food (but a softer one).

If I give her porridge (from rice) that I cooked by myself. She does not want it and even throws up. Does she do that because she does not like the food? Does her behavior to eat only the softer food affect her feeding ability in future?

Fussy eaters
by: Anonymous

Fussy eaters can really be taxing on the mother, and your baby sounds like one! You may want to indulge her need for softer food for a bit longer and then try varying the texture of the food to make it more lumpy, chewy and so on, but gradually, so she does not notice a drastic change.

It is a good idea to get her used to eating all sorts of food because later you may find that a fussy baby grows up to be a fussy child and teen and so on.

Another thing you can try with fussy eaters is to vary things a bit by letting her feed herself, (ignore the mess if you can).
