Eats Baby Cereal

by Kiana
(Oregon)

My 16 month old son still eats baby cereal. So, just like the gal who's 18 month old little girl still needs her food mashed up, I can totally relate. In fact, he's 50% breastmilk and 45% baby cereal, with the other 5% being yogurt. I'm wondering the same thing as she is.

His older sister, who is 3 now, was eating normal foods at 6 months, some still mashed.

I'm just wondering if I should be concerned about this or if it's a developmental problem, or if kids are all different and progress at different stages.

Also, I should add that his big molars are coming in. They've already cut through and showing pretty good.

Starting baby on solids
by: Anonymous

Starting baby on solids is not the same for all children. If your one and a half year old is having only cereal and breast milk, this is not really a reason to be worried. Babies do things at their own speed.

My first child was content with breast milk for the first six months and would have been so for even longer if we had not introduced solids. Our second one on the other hand, was longing for all our food from about 3 to 4 months, and by the time she was 10 months old I gave up cooking separately for her.

So you are right, all kids are different and do things differently, that is all.
