Expensive Baby Strollers Guide

Expensive Baby Strollers

Micralite Toro Stroller

All the bells and whistles!

"What a great stroller... the ride is extremely smooth with the pneumatic rear tires! Wow!"

Looking forexpensive baby strollers is merely confirming a taste for the finer things in life. There are those of us who feel that we have to get the very best that life has to offer.

I for one believe you get what you pay for. I also believe there is a very good reason why you pay more for one product than for the other.

It is not worthwhile to pay extra for a baby stroller just because it has a big brand name. All expensive baby strollers, whether from the big manufacturers or from the up and coming makers should have a number of features to justify the extra costs that they require.

Bugaboo Cameleon

The ultimate in baby strollers!

"The only thing this stroller doesn't do is change the diapers. It's the ultimate in customization and comfort. Brilliant!"

Some of the features which can possibly justify the extra costs in expensive baby strollers include:

Lightness and portability: The lightness and portability of a baby stroller may justify paying a little extra for it.

Safety: Enhanced safety for your baby is another feature worth paying a little extra for, and is an essential feature to look for in all expensive baby strollers.

Peg Perego 2009 Pliko P3 Stroller

Lightweight & good looking!

"I can tell Peg Perego has put a lot of thought into designing this to be very user friendly. Fairly light and folds/unfolds easily. !"

Comfort: Enhanced comfort for the baby and for yourself is another feature you might find worth paying a little extra for when comparing expensive baby strollers.

The features to look for with regard to the baby’s comfort would include suspension and a reclining seat. An all wheel suspension system in a baby stroller translates into more comfort for the baby.

PegPerego SkateStroller

Nearly perfect - fantastic ease of movement

"I'll sum it up quickly for parents who have little time:
Pros: Smooth ride, daughter loves sitting high and feeling close to everything
Cons: Heavy, doesn't fit in many cars or trucks with lids, no snack tray, wide

Overall the Skate is fantastic for how it holds my daughter, she's cozy, comfortable and seems very "in the action", in other words she's pushed forward towards the world and can reach out and touch things, dance around in her seat, etc.

The negatives are more annoyances, but don't impact her, so it should fully impact a decision to purchase. It is SO heavy, you really need to remove the seat from the base to load it in/out of a car. And if you have a car, check the dimensions before you purchase, because it barely compresses. I drive a BMW X5 and it takes up the entire trunk! Also, it's quite wide, which makes maneuvering through stores somewhat difficult, especially if the cup holder is attached since it hangs outside the frame - odd design.

The largest negative, and one that does affect my daughter, is that there's no snack tray. I've read that the new model will come with one, but unless they offer it as an accessory for this model, not so good for purchasers.

Overall, it looks great, rides smooth and is certainly a  Cadillac of strollers.

Some level of suspension (e.g. front wheel suspension) is good, but all wheel suspension is the ideal to look for in this regard.

Then there is the reclining seat, in which you should look a fully reclining seat (possibly up to 170 degrees).

BOB Revolution Duallie

Love it!

"Just love it! I had the Jeep tandem and it was nice until my son got so big (40 lbs, 39 inches) you couldn't steer it very well. The BOB is amazing! I have a 3 yr & 1 yr old. You can't feel the weight difference. It rides so nicely. Both my children are very tall/heavy (dense) for their age and my eldest has plenty of room to grow - which was my biggest concern. My husband just loves the shocks - go figure. It compacts nicely....and if you need it even more compact the wheels come off in a snap and can be stored in the seat. It's amazing! I'm so glad I purchased it."

Regarding your comfort (as the person to be pushing the baby stroller), the ideal to look out for is an adjustable handle bar, which makes the baby stroller easy to use by people of all heights.

This is a feature many people are willing to pay a little extra for; bearing the considerable discomfort that often accompanies pushing a stroller that is too low.

Other comfort features worth paying a little extra for include handle padding and a large, practical and accessible basket for storing baby stuff during outings.
