Everyone Knows That Gerber Baby Food Is Only The Best, Right?

Everyone Knows That Gerber Baby Food Is Only The Best, Right?

Gerber baby food may very likely play a very important part in your baby's development. During the first year or so of your baby's life, you are setting the pattern of your baby's future food likes and dislikes as well as his health. And...

Gerber have been feeding children for a very long time

Daniel Gerber owned a canning factory. Meanwhile his wife was at home hand straining food for her baby. One evening he had a go and found it was not as easy as he anticipated. Dorothy Gerber suggested it might be more easily done at the canning factory and experiments began. The evening when Daniel covered himself in strained peas was in 1927.

Since1928 the company have been feeding babies and their baby Sally became the first baby food analyst. That first year peas, prunes, spinach, carrots and beef and vegetable soup were produced and Mrs Gerber later personally answered consumer questions.

Gerber provide on their web site http://www.gerber.com sample menus for the various stages that your baby goes through when being weaned. However they do suggest mixed cereal earlier than some scientists would advocate. If your baby is going to be allergic to a particular grain, it is best to introduce them separately so that you can spot any particular problems and name the culprit. You may also want to read about gluten free baby food.

Gerber baby food jars are convenient and safe with their well known special safety lid. They also have an organic range of single fruit varieties and vegetable mixes. You may want to make your own foods for baby, but we all have days and times when just opening a jar is the better option.

You can mix and match of course. Try mixing some fruit puree or a vegetable mix into one of the organic grain mixes. Or you could combine two fruits such as pear and banana. Gerber baby foods come in many varieties, but in many instances by the time your child is walking he can eat many things in common with other members of the family. It may seem easier to just give a toddler the same biscuits or crackers as the rest of the family.

But, Gerber or other baby crackers are likely to have less sugar and salt than standard ones and so are usually better for your baby.

Don't just let the baby browse though. Three meals a day plus two small snacks such as one biscuit are much better for him as he will learn to distinguish between full and hungry and so is less likely to browse continuously in older life. Try a Gerber Graham cracker and some fruit juice as one snack.

What else does Gerber do?

Gerber don't just make baby food. Even breast feeding moms will find advice and products on their web site including breast pumps, breast pads, soothing creams and storage bottles. So even if you are determined to avoid commercially produced foods Gerber have something to offer including free samples.

They're surely not be the only company, but they have produced reliable baby food products for a very long time.
