According to several nutrition sites, your baby should start eating by 15 months, 5 small meals during the day. Take into consideration that a baby's stomach is about the size of its fist just like anyone else's. Therefore the meals should be small.
Pay attention to the signs your baby gives you of being full. Never force a baby to eat more than it wants. Try to keep a rainbow variety each day. Meaning keep as many types of vegies, fruit and food available for your baby to snack on.
I personally store different things in tiny ziplocks or containers each night, this way I need not rush, worry, nor delay when it's meal time the next day.
I also try to have my baby on a schedule. She has breakfast, lunch and dinner with us on the table while we all eat....and she snacks between each if she feels like it. Keeping meals around certain hours helps me organize my day and my baby's feeding. The best way to know if your baby is eating enough or too much is by it's growth and weight. Simply monitor it month by month.
Milk intake on a 1 1\5 month old ranges from 16 to 24 oz a day. Remember to keep a zippy cup full of water handy. Children should be able to get drinks of water easily, whenever they want to, they will drink enough. Don't force it.
Also remember your baby can pretty much eat whatever you eat by now. Just chop things up really well to avoid chocking hazards. Also go easy on spices at first. Try not to feed your baby too many breads or fillers.
Go as natural as possible and it's hard to go wrong.
Different Amounts Of Food by: Courtney
The amount of food that an infant consumes just depends on the child. Some eat more and some eat less. Try giving him different amounts of food and see how he reacts and which is better for him.
