Premature Twin Girls

by Rachel
(United Kingdom )

I have premature twin girls. They were born 12 weeks prematurely. They are now 14 months old. The youngest is crawling and sitting un-aided. The older one is barely rolling she can't support her head very well and it always leans to one side.

Everytime I put her on the floor to try and encorage her she will start crying. And if I sit her up in between my legs to help her sit up she will cry untill I pick her up and put her over my sholder. She is much smaller than her sister now. She was only 4 oz smaller than her at birth.

I am concerned at her development as she is over a year now and I can't see her catching up anytime soon. I was wondering if you can suggest any learning techniques, toys or other tips that you could recomend to help. Is her development is a cause for concern?

Twin Girls

I was reading your twin girls concern. My daughter will be 14months this week and was also born 12 weeks early. She only started crwaling in the past two weeks and standing for a few seconds this week. I don't stress as the most important issue is that she is healthy. Most importantly, don't compare her to other babies!
