Stopped talking

My grandson suddenly stopped talking. He is now 13 months old and for the last few months was saying 5 words, saying the sound that a kitty makes (meow), & oh oh. He used to always say nana to me on the phone, all of a sudden in the last couple of weeks he has stopped saying his usual words, except for oh, oh. Why would he stop using the words that he was previously using?

New baby skills
by: Reena

Has your grandson recently discovered any new baby skills? Has he started walking or eating by himself or something new like that? If so, he is just busy mastering that and is focusing less on the verbal aspect of things. It could be something as simple as that. I do not think you should be worrying at all. Suddenly one day when he is ready, he will surprise you by saying multiple new words!
