Stopped walking independently

by Ruchi

My 1 year old son started walking independently at around 11 months, but at his first birthday he suddenly stopped walking independently. Now he holds onto something as a base when walking, typically a table, bed, any person close by. Is there some problem I should be aware of?

Stopped walking

Your son was walking a little earlier than some, so was obviously in good health at that point. Did he have any infection or fever after that? I am wondering if he had an ear infection, perhaps one you were not aware of, which has caused a slight difference in his ability to balance. I suggest you go and see a pediatrician and explain the circumstances, but I am sure that before very long your son will be running around.
