Swollen Gums

by Aida

During teething swollen gums may be hindering your baby to feed well.

My 5 month old is teething and last week the pain became more noticeble. She tipically would breastfeed and then have 2 to 3 ounces of formula in a bottle. She doesn't want the bottle these days, nor the chew toys - not even her hand which she would rub on her gums before.

So she cries because of pain but also because she's hungry. The gells for baby teething take away the sensation but not enough for her to take any bottle. Breastfeeding isn't enough and I decided to try something new...

I should mention that for the last 2 months my baby has been sipping from my water glass or bottle whenever I drank. And even though she already has her sippy cup she still prefers my water glass (I give it very carefully - she doesn't grab it on her own).

So I tried her formula on a glass too. She took it happily. Afterwards she bresatfeeds and comforts herself. She is content not to go hungry. And I am content to have an option that doesn't hurt her swollen gums.

I hope it helps your baby too.
