Treating Eczema

by Shyamala Sathiaseelan
(Dublin, Ireland)

If your child has eczema, one of the first things to do is to check with your doctor to make sure your child does not have any food
related allergies
.

To treat the eczema, I apply a mixture of cod liver oil and olive oil to my baby's skin before bath everyday.

Find a soap that suits your baby's skin best. Do not apply soap directly on to your baby's skin, but always apply only the lather.

Use warm water and not hot water.

Pat dry your baby's skin and do not rub dry.

Apply moisturiser when the skin is still wet. Find the one that suits your baby. I apply white soft paraffin and one of my friends uses shea butter.

And if your baby has any pollen allergies, apply vaseline around the nose. It helps a lot
